Activewear For Women Should Be Fun And Functional

When it’s time to exercise the best workout gear or workout clothes are comfortable and allows for easy movement. Yes, I realize that describes a boring pair of gray sweatpants or the gym uniform that you had to wear in high school. 

But the best workout gear or fitness apparel is functional AND stylish. Why not wear workout clothes that make you feel confident and sexy while you get sweaty?  And why not wear your workout clothes all day long like I do!

Workout Tops

It is important to have an array of women’s workout tops that double for athletic use and also everyday life. The key to finding your favorite workout top is to choose pieces that work for you. 

Seek women’s workout shirts that look great whether you’re going shopping or heading to the gym. Only buy premium, high-quality fabrics that will last for a long time no matter how hard you push them. 

Choose a mix of women’s exercise shirts so you’re prepared for any activity, no matter the weather. Make sure your exercise tops collection includes workout tank tops, racerback tanks, a sleeveless t-shirt (or two or three), workout crop tops, crew-neck workout shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and a women’s windbreaker. 

I love wearing layers. As you warm up keep a long sleeve shirt on, then you heat up, take that layer off. If you live in a cool climate it is important to cover back up when you walk outside.

Tank tops allow for a great range of motion as you move your body. There’s nothing more frustrating than having your arms feeling restricted and unable to move the way you want them to.

Like a workout tank top, sleeveless t-shirts let you show off your hard work as you build strong, toned arms while keeping you from getting too hot during your workout. Look for sleeveless t-shirts made with a premium cotton blend so they will be ultra-soft and comfortable.

Crew-Neck Workout Shirts

Crew-neck workout tops are comfortable and provide more coverage than most tanks or v-neck tops. Opt for a more fitted style to show off your workout results. Wear one while cycling, lifting weights or sweating during hot yoga.

Ready to show off your abs? Wearing a soft, cotton workout crop top gives you a little more coverage than just wearing a sports bra, without feeling like the shirt’s weighing you down. Perfect for hot, humid days. 

Long-Sleeve T-Shirt 

Long-sleeve tees are perfect for lifting weights or going for a long-distance run. They pair with shorts, leggings, or jeans, and make a comfortable choice whether you’re working on your weight loss goals, grabbing coffee with the girls, or lounging at home for movie night. 

Windbreaker 

Choose a zip-front jacket made of water-repellent material to keep moisture out and warmth in. Selecting a windbreaker with a hood gives you even more options to protect yourself from the weather. A jacket with zip-up pockets keeps your valuables safe while you’re on a run or walk.

The most important consideration for a sports bra is fit. You want one that fits tightly enough to keep the “girls” supported without being uncomfortable.

When it’s time to choose exercise shorts or women’s workout shorts, look for options that will work with your planned activity. If you’re going for a jog, choose a pair of running workout shorts. 

No one expects you to wear boring women’s gym shorts that are too tight or too short. You want to wear fitted shorts that show off your assets without leaving you feeling uncomfortable or struggling to move easily. Look for shorts that are longer in the back, giving you more coverage during squats, lunges, and running.

Choose shorts with a tummy-flattering waistband with a tie so you can adjust the fit as your waist shrinks. For convenience, choose a pair of exercise shorts with a pocket for your keys. 

Running Shorts

Start by choosing shorts made with a premium quality sweat-proof material that is lined. To get the right length, measure your inseam. Choosing shorts with side slits gives you a greater range of motion.

Yoga Shorts

These stretchy comfortable shorts are ideal for holding yoga poses or doing strength training or exercises like squats or pliés. Made with stretchy material, it’s easy to find yoga shorts that fit in a variety of lengths and colors. Choose yoga shorts with wide waistbands for maximum comfort. 

Workout Skirts

The best workout skirts or skorts combine the comfort and coverage of a skirt with the practicality of shorts or leggings. They’re flattering and easily can go from the gym, to running errands, to having lunch with friends.

The best workout leggings are stretchy enough to be comfortable without being too thin. You want exercise leggings made with non-see-through fabric. 

Leggings hug your curves and show off all your hard work from leg day or booty-busting workouts. Choose high waisted, compression leggings to give you support without feeling like they are too tight. You want to be able to move naturally and effortlessly. 

Whether you plan to use them as training leggings, running leggings, or yoga leggings, you’ll find exercise leggings have a variety of uses. You can wear them for a variety of workouts.

And you can choose leggings in a variety of lengths and colors. You don’t have to stick with basic black. But remember black does the best job of hiding sweat.

You can choose legging lengths that make you feel most comfortable. Your options include full-length leggings, ⅞-length leggings, cropped leggings or yoga pant leggings. For the greatest comfort, choose high-waist leggings.

Wear cold-weather leggings under waterproof outerwear to keep you warm. Another option, pair leggings with a pair of sweatpants.

Hats And Caps

Women choose to wear hats or caps during their workouts for several reasons. The right hat helps keep you warm on a frosty day or protects your face on a sunny one. 

Hats also help prevent flyaway hair or mask a bad hair day. 

Baseball Hat 

Hats with a brim help shade your face and provide an ideal mix of comfort and style. They’re a great option to wear on an outing or use if you don’t have time to style your hair. Choose a hat that’s adjustable or one that uses a patented memory foam sweatband. 

Knit Pom 

Knitted hats are a great option to help keep you warm during winter workouts outside. A cable-knit wool beanie topped with a soft, fuzzy, faux fur pom, is an ideal choice to keep you warm on crisp fall days or frigid winter nights.
